Forgiveness

Someone wrongs you, and you do wrong unto them in return.  Someone starts a rumor about you, and you start one in return.  Someone hurts you, and you hurt them in return.  When does the negative cycle end?

Forgiveness, by definition, is the act by which we cease to feel resentment against someone.  It seems to be a difficult attainment, in that many people can forgive the small hurts and offenses; however, there are those who are unable to look past the moments of intense evil done unto them or a loved one.

If we are to live our lives in the image of Jesus, shouldn’t we forgive all who have wronged us, wronged a loved one, or wronged a friend?  Forgiveness doesn’t have a gauge by which we determine if the forgiveness is warranted, because when all is said and done…forgiveness is forgiveness.

It’s one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself, to forgive. Forgive everybody. -Maya Angelou

We have to remember, when we forgive we’re not doing it just for the other person, we’re doing it for our own good. When we hold on to unforgiveness and we live with grudges in our hearts, all we’re doing is building walls of separation.~Joel Osteen

There is no love without forgiveness, and there is no forgiveness without love.”- Bryant H. McGill

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. –Martin Luther King, Jr.

Be ready to forgive over and over again.-Matthew 18: 21-22
