The Story Goes on Forever– You Only Live Once

How can we get passed the obstacles that hold us back from living in the moment? This question reminds me of a video that I watched In my freshmen seminar class. The video was of the major mile stones in a man’s with a poem being read in the background. It all started when he left his phone at home and went for a walk. During that walk he met the love of his life, and from then on the video showed how happy he was. The video ended with none of the moments that were shown ever actually happening because he didn’t leave his phone at home. When the love of his life walked by him during the walk, he didn’t even see her. He didn’t see her because he was looking down at his phone.

If he had just been looking up from his phone and had been living in the moment he would have meet the love of his life. Apps on our phone like social media distract us from the world, full of opportunity, right in front of us. We watch other people live their lives instead of living our own. The obstacle that holds us back from living in the moment might not be technology for everybody. You might be too shy or too lazy, and miss out on opportunities because of it.

No one lives forever and when close to death nobody wants to have any regrets. Looking back you’ll want to be able to say you live a good and full life. If you don’t get pass the obstacles holding you back you won’t be able to. You’ll long for the opportunities you missed and the memories you could have made. Get pass the obstacles holding you back, try new thing, and live the life you were given, because you only live once.
